Information we handle
We process the email address and optional name supplied for account access. We also process share identifiers, connection status, IP addresses, browser information, usage totals, feedback, and operational logs needed to provide, secure, and improve the service.
The Chrome extension stores its account session, persistent share identifier, local folder permission, and preferences on the user’s device. It reads only the folder the user explicitly chooses. File names, sizes, and types are shown to viewers only after the host approves their access request.
How files are transferred
Approved viewers receive files through encrypted WebRTC data channels. Our signaling service coordinates the connection but does not store the contents of shared files. If relay infrastructure is introduced to complete connections that cannot be made directly, relayed traffic remains encrypted in transit and is not retained as file storage.
How we use information
- Authenticate accounts and send verification codes.
- Create and reconnect persistent share links.
- Route connection requests and prevent unauthorized access.
- Measure aggregate service usage, diagnose failures, prevent abuse, and respond to feedback.
Sharing and sale of data
We do not sell personal information or shared-file data. We use infrastructure and email providers only to operate the service. Information may be disclosed when required by law or necessary to protect users and the service.
Retention and control
Account and share records remain while the account or share is active. Operational and abuse-prevention records are retained only as reasonably needed. Users can pause a share, revoke folder access in Chrome, uninstall the extension, or request deletion of account information.
Security
ItsMyServer uses HTTPS, secure WebSockets, encrypted WebRTC connections, one-time email codes, and access approval for new viewer browsers. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
