When a viewer accesses your files, we establish a direct peer-to-peer connection between their browser and your device using WebRTC technology. Your files are transferred directly without passing through our servers. We only facilitate the initial connection handshake (signaling).
If a direct P2P connection can't be established (e.g., due to strict NAT/firewalls), ItsMyServer automatically falls back to our relay server. Even in relay mode, your data is never stored — it's simply passed through. Relay bandwidth is included in your plan.
Yes. In P2P mode, your files travel directly from your device to the viewer's browser — our servers never see the content. In relay mode, data passes through encrypted in transit and is never written to disk.
The background service keeps your node running. However, if your device sleeps or loses network access, viewers will see your node as offline until you're back. Enable "keep-awake" mode in app settings to prevent this.
